What is Reiki?

Let's dive deeper into this powerful healing modality and how it can transform your world.

Anchor 1

1. Energy

Energy is something that we all feel, no matter where we come from or what we believe. It is all around us and there is no life of any kind without it. It's what powers all of our bodily functions and it's what allows us to interact with the physical world.

Cultures everywhere have given the energy that powers life, or the "life force energy", different names.

In Sanskrit it's 'prana', the Chinese call it "chi" the Japanese call it "ki," the Maori call it "mana," and the Greeks called it "pneuma." Even the Bible uses the term "holy spirit" to describe this energy.

But no matter what you call it, the feeling is the same - it's a sense of vitality, power, and life force that flows through all living things everywhere at all times.

2. Energy Meridians

Energy Meridians are the channels or pathways that the "life force energy" flows through within the body.

Life force energy is a subtle, non-physical force that is intimately connected to our physical and emotional well-being.

The idea is that when the flow of the energy in our bodies is blocked or disrupted in any way it can lead to emotional pain, physical pain, disease, and sicknesses.

3. Energy and Reiki

Reiki Practitioners become sensitive to energetic imbalances within the body and use direct (light touch), or not touch at all techniques to correct energetic misalignments around the physical body. It's like a chiropractor appointment for your soul.

When the "life force" energy is blocked or disrupted, practitioners use their hands to channel positive energy into the body (light touch or no touch) to unblock and balance the energy which, in turn, promotes healing and deep states of relaxation.

From a scientific perspective, studies have shown that reiki can help reduce stress and stimulate relaxation which can have a significant positive impact on our physical and mental wellbeing. It is also may help reduce pain and inflammation.

Our physical bodies are electromagnetic systems. That said, your thoughts, emotions, and actions all produce energy that vibrates at certain frequencies. Positive thoughts, emotions, and actions are high frequency. Negative thoughts, emotions, and actions, are low frequency.

Because we are energetic beings, the energy you give the world is the energy the world gives you right back, so, as practitioners, we are conduits that jumpstart your energy back toward alignment, balance, and harmony so the optimal high frequency life you want to live doesn't pass you up.

4. Reiki Facts

  • Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 1800s. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words - Rei and Ki. The word "Rei" means "universal". Digging deeper "Rei" is  "higher knowledge" or " spiritual consciousness". Ki is the life energy.

  • The Reiki practitioner merely opens to the energy, becoming a conduit for the receiver. The innate wisdom within does the healing.

  • Because Reiki is guided by God-Consciousness, it can do no harm. It always knows what a person needs and will adjust itself to create an effect that is appropriate.

  • While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in to learn and use Reiki. Reiki is not dependent on belief at all, and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, it enables many people to go beyond intellectual concepts and directly experience their own religion.

  • Reiki can be used on oneself, others, plants, animals, machines, and just about anything that has energy.

  • Reiki can be used as a complimentary healing therapy in addition to standard medical procedures and all religious beliefs

  • Reiki supports the body's natural ability to heal itself.

  • Reiki brings order and balance to all levels; mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Western culture refers to this state as homeostasis.

  • Reiki can help ease anxiety and depression

  • Reiki can work in conjunction with Psychotherapy to provide rapid personal growth

  • Reiki can cleanse the body of accumulated toxins

  • Reiki can help release anger, stress, tension and fear

  • Reiki can give symptomatic relief from pain, anxiety and insomnia

  • Reiki is not a replacement for mainstream allopathic medicine, psychotherapy, or general self-care activities.  We, as Reiki practitioners, do not diagnose, treat illnesses nor prescribe medications. We do not claim to heal, but we do promote healing

5. Distance Reiki

Distance Reiki is a technique that allows a Reiki practitioner to transmit healing energy to a client who is not in the same physical location. This can be done through a video call, phone call, or even just intention.

Distance reiki works because energy is not limited by time or space, so it can be sent and received from anywhere in the world.

While it may seem counterintuitive, many Reiki practitioners and clients have reported that Distance Reiki can be just as effective as in-person sessions.

During a Distance Reiki session, we'll typically ask you to find a quiet, comfortable place where you can relax and receive the energy. We will then use visualization and intention to send the Reiki energy to you, much like we would during an in-person session.

While Distance Reiki may not be for everyone, many people have found it to be a convenient and effective way to receive healing energy, especially during times when in-person sessions are not possible.

6. Reiki For Men

While people may associate Reiki more with women, there's no reason why men can't benefit from the practice as well. In fact, many men find that Reiki helps them reduce stress, improve their mental clarity, and promote overall well-being.

Men are often taught to suppress their emotions and prioritize stoicism and toughness, which can lead to feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression. Reiki can be particularly beneficial for men because it provides an opportunity for them to connect with their emotions and inner selves in a safe and supportive environment.

Reiki can help men access and process their emotions in a healthy way, which can lead to greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and emotional resilience.

Since reiki can help reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and promote relaxation it can be particularly helpful for men who experience chronic pain or discomfort due to physical labor, sports injuries, or other health conditions.

Reiki is a versatile and effective healing practice that can benefit people of all genders, including men.
